For Councillor Zifiso Mpofu, SWRGN’s work has strengthened communities in visible and
measurable ways.
“Projects like ALSAS groups, poultry farming, and horticulture have improved households’
ability to provide for themselves,” he says.
One of the organisation’s greatest contributions has been training communities on inclusion.
“They taught us that people with disabilities must be part of all community structures,” he
says.
He proudly speaks of Lubelihle Mlotshwa, a young woman with a thriving garden and an
efficient irrigation system. “She is now a role model because of SWRGN’s guidance.”
However, challenges persist: market access and transportation to towns like Gwanda remain
major barriers.
“As a councillor, I will continue encouraging people to participate and seek markets for their
produce.”
“Teenage pregnancies dropped from seven to
one..”
